AI produces working material — drafts, candidate summaries, flagged issues — but at no point does that output go directly into a final deliverable without human review. This is not a disclaimer. It is a structural requirement embedded in every workflow: defined review points, specific verification steps, and documented sign-off.

What AI handles — and what it doesn’t

AI is well-suited to bounded, repeatable tasks where the source material is clear:
  • Producing a structured first-draft summary of a Phase III paper in minutes instead of hours
  • Generating a candidate content outline from a briefing document and key message set
  • Adapting a specialist-level summary for a GP or nurse audience

Your responsibilities as the reviewer

Never submit without expert review

Every deliverable — internal summary, client-facing slide deck, congress highlights report — requires human verification. There are no exceptions based on risk tier or time pressure.

Document where AI was used

Track which sections were AI-assisted in your project files. This tells the reviewer where to focus verification effort and supports transparency with clients and auditors.

Review against sources, not just for readability

AI output reads fluently. That is the risk. A summary that sounds authoritative can contain transposed data points, merged study arms, or conclusions the authors never drew. Always verify claims against the original source materials.

Treat AI output as a working draft

The value is reaching a reviewable draft faster — not compressing the review itself. In some cases, reviewing AI-assisted content requires more attention, not less.

Maintain clear sign-off protocols

The person who approves the final deliverable owns its accuracy, compliance, and completeness. The fact that AI was involved in production does not change their accountability.
